February 11, 1945 ~ July 21, 2022 (age 77) 77 Years Old
Ginger Rose Albanese, age 77, died on July 21, 2022. She was born February 11, 1945, in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late Thomas and Virginia Lorenzen. She is survived by her loving spouse, Larry L. Albanese, daughters Suzanne (Jim) Conrad of Spokane, Washington, Nicole Albanese Carter (Erick) of New Albany, and Wendy Albanese of Reynoldsburg, grandchildren Taylor Young (Derek Crafter), Luke and Jackson Carter, Daniel, Tessa, Ginger Conrad and Dwayne Honeycutt (Conrad); great-grandchildren Kason and Klarissa Crafter. She was preceeded in death by her two brothers, Larry Lorenzen of Northwood and Jim Lorenzen of Perrysbug.
Ginger was a career educator who graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1963 and earned a Bachelors, Masters and PhD in Education from The Ohio State University (OSU). Ginger taught business at several high schools in Columbus City Schools, in addition to teaching evenings as an adjunct professor at OSU for future business teachers. She meanwhile co-authored an Accounting textbook that was published by McGraw-Hill.
Following many years of teaching, she worked at OSU developing curriculum materials for the Ohio Department of Education. She was very active in several professional associations: Ohio Business Teachers Association, Ohio Vocational Association, and Delta Pi Epsilon. The final ten years of her career were spent serving Westerville City Schools as Director of Career and Technical Education.
Following her retirement in 2004, she and her husband Larry enjoyed living in Pickerington, boating on many lakes in Ohio and Tennessee, and spending time at their condo at Indian Lake. They visited family and friends in Columbus, Toledo and Spokane, Washington, enjoyed traveling to Alaska and Hawaii, attending OSU football games and Skull Sessions, watching grandsons play football and walking Golden-grand-dog Marley in New Albany. Ginger enjoyed cooking for her family. Her pumpkin pie was legendary, as is her collection of kitchen gadgets. The family fondly remembers many birthdays and holidays in the warmth of her and Larry’s home.
Family and friends may visit Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home 550 Hill Rd N, Pickerington, OH 43147 on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 4-7 pm for visitation. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Church 600 Hill Rd N. Pickerington, OH 43147 beginning at 10:30 am. Interment will follow the funeral mass at Plain Township Maplewood Cemetery 4585 Reynoldsburg New Albany Rd, New Albany, OH 43054. Contributions can be made in Ginger’s name to Alzheimer’s Association Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Rd, Columbus, OH 43215.
