In loving memory of Wanda “Tommie” Jeanette Ewell, April 3rd, 1937 - September 30th, 2018. Tommie Ewell, a long-time resident of Lithopolis, died September 30, 2018 after a difficult fight with diabetes and congestive heart failure. She was a vibrant woman: a loving wife of 62 years, mother, aunt and grandmother. Tommie was an avid bowler for many years in the Morning Glories League, and in the past was active in both Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi sororities. She was a supportive helpmate to her husband, Donald, in his 23-year military career, managing the household and children through several military moves, including an extended tour for the whole family in Japan. She was happiest when interacting with neighborhood friends and extended family, and noted for her elaborate Halloween costumes. She was a proud member of the Bloom Township Volunteer Fire Department and was on the first all-female squad as an EMT. She extracted great joy in being involved in her 5 grandchildren’s lives. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie Parvin and Minnie Bragg Parvin; son, Lonnie Miles Ewell; sister, Jimmie Owen (Frank); sister, Bobbie West (James) and sister, Johnnie Turner (Neil). She is survived by brother, Lonnie “Pete” Parvin (Daisy); husband, Donald Ewell Sr; son, Donald Ewell Jr (Jennifer); daughter, Beth Morrissette (Kevin); son, Ronald Ewell (Sharon), and 5 grandchildren: Jeffrey Morrissette, Richard Morrissette, Hunter Ewell, Brett Ewell, and Laura Ewell, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Arrangements by DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, Canal Winchester, OH. Celebration of Life to be held Saturday, October 13, at Lithopolis United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10am to 12noon with a brief service at noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to The Fairfield Area Humane Society, 1721 Granville Pike, PO Box 1109, Lancaster, OH 43130.
