William "Bill" Allison

William Carl “Bill” Allison, age 77, of Greensburg, PA, formerly of Heath, OH, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Newhaven Court at Lindwood in Greensburg. Born April 22, 1944 in East Liverpool, Ohio to the late Carl L. and Zelma V. (Miller) Allison. Bill graduated in 1962 from Glendale High School in Glendale, CA. After high school, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed at Rickenbacker AFB in Groveport. This is where he met the love of his life, Karen Sue Brobst. They were married for 48 years until she passed in 2014.
Bill joined the Columbus Division of Fire in 1971, where he held many roles and rose to the rank of Lieutenant. He loved his time with the fire department and never thought of it as a job. He retired from the department in 1998, but never retired from serving his community.
Besides his parents and his wife, Karen, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Stepanek; and sister, Patricia Reed.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Kelly (Mark) Podkul, Greensburg, PA; granddaughters, Allison, Morgan, and Sarah Podkul, Hannah, Emma (Ross), and Grace Stepanek; great-granddaughters, Audrey and Amelia Vidrine; brother, Ronald (Beth) Allison; sister-in-law, Gayle (Dave) Lewis; brothers-in-law, David (Susan) Brobst and Howard Reed; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Friends may visit 2-4 & 6-8 pm Wednesday, Dec. 8 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd N (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington, Ohio, where funeral service will be held 10:30 am Thursday, Dec. 9. Interment will follow at Lithopolis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the Alzheimer’s Association in Bill’s memory.
