Wilma Faye Cuvelier

Wilma Faye Koon Cuvelier met the Lord, July 29, 2021, after battling a long illness. She was born on May 1st, 1947 in Evans, West Virginia to the late Vesta and Homer Koon. She was one of seven siblings and graduated from Ripley High School in Ripley, WV. In her early twenties she moved to Akron, Ohio and raised two sons while acting as the Vice President of McCann Realty.

In 1987 she met the love of her life, James Cuvelier. Jim proposed seven times before she said yes, and together they began a happy, 32-year union that found them living in Mobile, Alabama, Pittsburgh, PA, and Lancaster, Ohio. Wilma was “mom” to many children and friends, and helped raise her stepsons, Justin and JJ, and her stepdaughters, DeLynn Russell Yerkey, and the late Denise Russell.

She is survived by her husband, James Cuvelier; her sons, Michael Buckley of Brooklyn, NY, Edwin (Maria) Buckley of Waterloo, South Carolina, and stepsons, Justin (Danariss) Cuvelier of Lancaster, Ohio and JJ (Nikki) Cuvelier of Norton, Ohio; grandchildren, Finn Buckley, Dominic Buckley, Caitrin Blair, Hannah Jennings, Kierra Faught, Kiah Buckley, Lief Buckley, Kayelani G Cuvelier; and great grandchildren, Juliana Jennings, Alijah Jennings, and Carter Blair. She died peacefully at Fairhope Hospice and Palliative Care, surrounded by music and those who loved her best.

Friends and family may visit from 5-8pm, Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at DWAYNE R SPENCE FUNERAL HOME. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 4, with burial to follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
