Kay Beverly (Slieff) Massey, age 78, passed peacefully surrounded by family at her son’s home in Pickerington Ohio, on Saturday, January 13, 2018. Private burial was held on January 17, 2018 at Ortonville Cemetery.
A memorial service for friends and family will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Fenton First Presbyterian Church, 503 S. Leroy Street, Fenton, MI 48430. Pastor Robbie Carnes officiating.
Kay was born in Groveland Twp, MI on July 18, 1939 and resided in Flint and Fenton MI before retiring to Florida. Kay graduated valedictorian of both Grand Blanc High School class of 1957 and Hurley Nursing School class of 1960. Enjoying a highly rewarding career, Kay was a pediatric nurse for Dr. Clark and Dr. Moran. At First Presbyterian Church, she was a Deacon and a member of both the choir and bell choir. In retirement, she served as a Stephen’s Minister comforting those in need.
She enjoyed bowling, writing poetry, daily devotional readings, and catching up with her sisters by phone. Kay was an avid sports fan and always ready for a “friendly” game of euchre or bridge.
She is survived by children, Matthew Dunlop and wife Kelly, of Pickerington, OH, Nicole Neswold and husband Michael, of Longwood, FL; 7 grandchildren, Christopher and fiancée Chelsie, Jefferson, Kendall, Cole, Reganne, Alaska and Kali; 1 brother, David Slieff and his wife Beverly of Greer, SC; 2 sisters, Vivian Phalen and husband Jack of North Port, FL, Judy Kimball of Grand Blanc, MI; several nieces and nephews; ex-husband, Sidney Massey and his wife Erika.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Bruce Dunlop; brothers, Berton and Roy Slieff; sisters, Anita Huff and Roberta Seely.
Kay was a loving mother and friend and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of Central Ohio, Hospice of the Comforter in central Florida, and all who lovingly cared for Kay in her final months.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be sent to the Fenton First Presbyterian Church 503 S. Leroy Street, Fenton, MI 48430 in Kay’s memory.
