Phyllis Pierce, age 76, of Groveport, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in Sun City, AZ. She was born in Clarksburg, WV to the late Maurice and Irene Yost. With her ever-present smile and a kind word, Phyllis was a member of the choir at her beloved First Baptist Church of Groveport and a devoted employee of J.C. Penny for 24 years. Along with being a devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed gardening and sewing. Preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Cayton.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jonathan G. Pierce; children, Kellie (Robert) Gilbert, Cheray (Gary) Holmes, Jonathan G. (Jennifer) Pierce II; grandchildren, Heather (Matt), Mark (Shawnee), Brent (Becky), Jacquyln (Ben), Andrew, Trinity, Nathan; brother, Kenneth (Claryce) Yost; loving pet, Cookie; and many family and close friends.
Family and friends may visit from 4-7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 30 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St. Canal Winchester, OH 43110. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Greg Cooper, will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 31 at First Baptist Church of Groveport, 5521 Groveport Rd., Groveport, OH 43125, with a visitation an hour prior. Interment to follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the 4th Angel Mentoring Program from Cleveland Clinic or Pelotonia for Cancer Support and Research.
